Life's like a tidal wave...you just gotta hold on tight and ride it out

Well, I'm totally grateful this week for having some awesome coworkers for no other reason than they kept me company and sane.  It's quite a departure from my years doing archaeology where you're working almost completely independently.  You don't rely on anyone, and when you're done with the project you normally don't see your coworkers anymore as you and they move on to different projects.  So it's hard to build lasting friendships with people in the archaeology field.  It's taken me a couple of years now, but I'm slowly getting use to the idea of solid friends from coworkers.

It's a very stressful time for me right now.  I've got some insane deadlines.  Yesterday I meant to spend the time accomplishing some of my goals.  I didn't quite end up doing all of my to-do list.  Instead I met up with some friends I hadn't seen in a bit, one who's in from out of town, and had a wonderful afternoon hanging out and checking out shops.  And I'll say it was totally worth it.

I'm lastly grateful for girl scout cookies.  Those delicious morsels have this amazing ability to bring a stomach-full of happiness to me.  Thank goodness it's cookie season!  (Though I'm sure by the end of it all my wallet will not be as happy).  Yesterday I finally started seeing them on the streets and it brings back such fond memories of my own childhood.  Well...maybe not so fond...I hated selling cookies on the street.  It was always cold and I always felt miserable...but now I'm not thinking so positively.  ;)
